Lucerna
STUDIO SHUU, 2023
Lucerna is an elegant and unique pendant light. This piece is ultimately designed around a single belief: light should not only reveal a space — it should reveal a feeling.
Its layered wireframe silhouette acts like a woven screen suspended in air — filtering brightness into delicate bands, shadows, and gradients that shift throughout the day. The result is a quiet tension between concealment and revelation.
The lamp draws from the visual language of veils, lattice shadows, and fleeting sunlight across a face — moments where emotion is carried not by objects themselves, but by the spaces between light and darkness.
The dual-volume form creates a subtle visual rhythm: an outer structure that diffuses and softens, and an inner luminous core that appears almost suspended.
It has two light sources. These metal spokes are joined together by spot welding. The thin vertical ribs are intentionally repetitive and restrained, allowing the lamp to dissolve visually into lines and shadows instead of appearing as a heavy object.
When illuminated, it projects transient patterns onto surrounding surfaces, transforming the room into a living composition of movement and stillness.
